MEET THE INSTRUCTOR
A DEDICATED MARTIAL ARTIST AND MENTOR.
Garth Perkins is a lifelong martial arts practitioner with over 30 years of experience. He holds rank in Tang Soo Do (4th Dan) and a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (brown belt). Garth also has extensive experience in both Kickboxing and Sport Karate.
His dedication as a student is only matched by his love for teaching. With over 25 years of teaching experience, Garth has taught thousands of students - helping them reach their goals, overcome adversity, and become the very best versions of themselves.
With over 15 years in business, Garth Perkins Academy has gained a reputation of providing quality martial arts instruction in the Hudson Valley. The academy is known for having a family friendly environment with a positive atmosphere that promotes growth and connection.

WHAT WE TEACH
TANG SOO DO
Tang Soo Do (당수도), translating to “the way of the China hand”, is a traditional Korean striking based martial art that emphasizes respect, discipline, and self-control.
We are affiliated Traditional Tang Soo Do International academy under Master Frederick Scott.
BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (柔術), translating to “the gentle art”, is a grappling-based discipline that teaches how to use angles, body positioning, and leverage to defeat a bigger, stronger opponent.
We are a Roy Dean affiliated academy, combining traditional customs and modern techniques. Respecting the old while creating the new.
