TSD BELT REQUIREMENTS

JUNIOR BELT REQUIREMENTS

The junior belt system is for all students under the age of 16. Additional striped belts may be awarded to students who do not meet certain age or proficiency requirements.

Promotions will occur at the end of every semi-annual session. Students will need to make minimum attendance requirements and complete their belt packets to be eligible.

During gradings, students will demonstrate their required forms, sparring, and breaking. Additional performance requirements are under the instructor’s discretion.

THE PATH TO BLACK BELT

The Garth Perkins Academy TSD system uses the following sequential ranks:

WHITE -> BLUE -> RED -> MIDNIGHT BLUE -> BLACK

Stripes are awarded as indicators of progress at the white belt level.

Students will be tested in the following categories for all belt examinations:

The forms portion of the exam will demonstrate a student’s technique and general knowledge in the art of Tang Soo Do. The sparring portion will demonstrate a student’s physical skills and heart. The breaking portion will demonstrate a student’s focus and precision.
